Mornings don’t have to be a drag. When you’re energized, motivated, and prepared, mornings can actually be really great. When you're being productive, looking forward to, and making use of your mornings rather than dreading them, your entire day will look up. And, guess what! Just because you are not already a morning person does not mean you cannot become one! With a few little lifestyle changes you can become a morning person. Here’s how:
Go to sleep earlier
This is a given, but, it’s easy to get caught up in a new TV show or be glued to your phone and lose track of time. Set a bedtime for yourself and stick to it. A little extra sleep can go a long way. It’s said that starting out the week (on Monday) being well rested is really important in terms of setting the tone for how the entire week will go.
Prepare everything the night before
From your outfit, to your lunch, to any files and folders you may need for work--make sure everything is packed up and ready to go. This way, you won’t be rushing around in the morning. If possible, even load up your car the night before.
Have something to look forward to
Look for something in each and everyday to look forward to. From big things like events, to small things, like a new coffee flavor, having something to look forward to will help you get out of bed and energized.
Put your alarm clock on the other side of the room
So that you cannot continue to hit snooze! Once your alarm goes off, get up and get going! The less time you have in the morning the more rushed you are. Which in turn, means you are more likely to forget something and just feel frazzled all day!
Have set obligations
Set early meetings. If you have a 9AM meeting to make, you’ll be up and out early. If you plan 1 o clock meetings, you’re more likely to “take the morning off” and be unproductive.
Drink water first thing
Water is great for entire body and drinking water first thing in the morning helps get you going.
If you really have trouble getting energized in the AM, consider a short workout routine in the morning to get your body going.
